About

I have created this blog to update the weekly progress of my portfolio in M1Finance.  I have been investing in stocks since 2013. While I have assets in other brokerages, I wanted to try M1 Finance since they provide features like auto-investing and fractional shares. My plan is to have a weekly deposit of $1000 and have the fund auto-invested into the pie I built.  Consistent and passive investing can beat those who try to time the market.

I find investing in index funds boring even though it gives you diversification. It is probably too much diversification.  I am planning to hold about 30 stocks/companies in my portfolio. After all, you don’t need that many stocks to diversify since you do not get much of a difference in risk-taking after 30 stocks as you can see from the graph below.

With dollar-cost averaging and always being in the market, I believe my portfolio can beat the market in the long term.  I will use this blog to prove my point and hopefully achieve financial independence.

Below is the interactive chart for my portfolio growth.
